Arc Raiders Trailblazer Guide: How to Get and Use It Effectively

In ARC Raiders, the Trailblazer Grenade is one of those tools that can completely change how you approach heavy fights. It’s not just a simple explosive. It creates a spreading green gas trail that triggers a chain of explosions, making it especially strong against armored ARC units and enemies grouped in tight spaces.

The downside is that it takes effort to unlock and even more discipline to use properly. If you just throw it like a normal grenade, you’ll waste most of its potential. Used correctly, though, it can melt some of the toughest targets in the game in seconds.

Below is a practical, player-focused guide on how to get it, craft it, and actually make it worth carrying.

How to Get the Trailblazer Blueprint

The Trailblazer Grenade blueprint cannot be bought directly. You’ll need to farm it in specific high-value zones.

The main farming location is Stella Montis, often treated as a high-risk PvP-heavy area. This is where most players report consistent blueprint activity.

Western Tunnel Route

One of the most reliable spots is the lower train track system:

Head down into the Western Tunnel area
Search along the rail lines
Check metal shipping containers scattered across the tracks

Blueprints can spawn inside these containers, and sometimes multiple can appear in a single run, making it worth clearing carefully instead of rushing.

Loading Bay Room

Another strong location is the Loading Bay section:

Go to the top-right side of the Loading Bay
Look for a breachable or destructible entry point
Inside, you’ll find lockers in a small changing room

These lockers can contain the Trailblazer blueprint, so it’s worth checking every time you pass through.

Night Raid Farming Tip

Night raids tend to increase PvP danger significantly, but they can also improve loot quality. If you can handle the risk of player encounters, farming at night can speed up blueprint acquisition.

Crafting Requirements

Once you unlock the blueprint at your workbench, each Trailblazer Grenade requires:

Firefly Burner
Synthesized Fuel
Crude Explosives (x2)
Firefly Burner

This comes from Firefly ARC units found roaming outdoor zones. A useful tactic is to shoot their exposed fuel canisters to trigger a chain explosion, making them much easier to eliminate.

Synthesized Fuel

You can find this in multiple ways:

Warehouses and industrial loot zones
Rocket Assembly areas in Spaceport
Salvaging Rocket Thrusters after extraction (good yield)
Guaranteed spawn in certain admin-type rooms in Stella Montis
Occasionally sold by vendors like Celeste
Crude Explosives

These are fairly common and usually not a bottleneck:

Found in industrial crates
Crafted through basic refinery systems

If you’re in a rush, vendors like Apollo may also sell pre-made versions, but supply is limited.

How to Use Trailblazer Grenades Effectively

The Trailblazer isn’t about instant impact on impact. It’s about delayed chain explosions through gas spread, which means positioning matters more than raw throwing speed.

1. Keep the Gas Concentrated

The closer you throw it to your target, the more concentrated the gas trail becomes. This increases explosion density and overall damage.

For heavy ARC units, aim for:

Under the body
At the feet or center mass
Short throw distance whenever possible

Long throws tend to spread the gas too thin.

2. Stack Multiple Grenades

One Trailblazer is strong. Several are devastating.

Because the explosions stack, you can:

Throw 2–4 grenades quickly under heavy targets
Delete high-armor enemies before they can react

This is especially effective against stationary or slow-moving ARC units.

3. Create an Opening Before Engaging

Getting close is dangerous, so don’t rush in blindly.

Good setup tools include:

Smoke grenades for cover
Disruption or stun-type grenades
Anything that buys you 5–10 seconds of control

Once enemies are blinded or distracted, you can safely push in and deploy Trailblazers at close range.

4. Use It in Tight Spaces

Trailblazer performs best in enclosed areas:

Hallways
Small rooms
Chokepoints

In PvP, this forces enemies out of cover immediately, often into open gunfire. In PvE, it traps ARC units in the full damage zone.

Target Priority Guide

Here’s how effective Trailblazer is against different enemies:

Target Effectiveness Best Approach
Bastions Extremely High Blind or stun first, then drop multiple grenades under body
Bombardiers Extremely High Approach from cover and throw directly under chassis
Enemy players High Use in tight rooms or choke points to force movement
Flying units Very Low Not recommended; gas falls too quickly to matter
Important Warning

One of the most common mistakes is standing too close after throwing. The gas and explosion chain can easily damage or even kill you if you don’t reposition immediately.

After every throw:

Dodge roll backward
Create distance instantly
Don’t linger in the gas zone

The Trailblazer Grenade is not a “spam and forget” tool. It rewards timing, positioning, and setup. If you treat it like a precision weapon rather than a standard explosive, it becomes one of the strongest options for clearing heavy ARC units and controlling tight PvP fights.

Once you get used to its timing, it becomes less of a grenade and more of a tactical delete button for anything caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
